Galina is an archaeologist and historiographer of archaeology of Central Asia who specialises in ancient religions. Her doctoral research focused on the Neolithic in the present-day Afghan-Tajik border region. This led to her becoming a leading scientific officer in the Department of Archaeology. She has always been inspired by the complexity of social structures and interaction between centres of religious practice and knowledge exchange across the area. In recent years she has dedicated her research to the remains at Penjikent District.
