Stella BICKELMANN

UCL, RESEARCH ASSISTANT 2020-2021

Stella has a background in field archaeology. After completing her MA History of Art and/or Archaeology at SOAS in 2001, she worked on and supervised excavations in London for archaeological companies, including MOLA (Museum of London Archaeology). Her interest in South Asian and Himalayan archaeology has led to her involvement in excavations in Pakistan, Afghanistan, and India. Her doctoral research studies the impact of climate change on the cultural heritage landscape of the Himalayan region of Ladakh, where she has collaborated with various heritage organisations since 2011. At CAAL she explores the Himalayas and Central Asia through remote sensing. Her dream is to make the overland journey from London to Kathmandu one day.
